She left the show to pursue other acting interests including a hugely popular series Doctor Foster, for which she won numerous awards.
Now, it appears she wants to go back to where it all started and make an appearance. Even though The Sun is claiming that she is making a 'shock return', nothing is confirmed yet and even if she does appear on the show, it's not a long-term plan.
She admitted that she would be up for playing the role of Karen McDonald again for Comic Relief.
According to The Sun, she said, "If it was for a good cause and we were going to raise a lot of money, I’d definitely consider it for Comic Relief.
