Ex-Coronation Street star set to make a shock return after 14 years

This is the last person we expected to return.

Of all the people potential to return to Coronation Street, Suranne Jones was nowhere near the top of the list.

But, apparently, she is in talks to make a return on the show. Suranne played Steve McDonald’s wife Karen on the show between 2000 and 2004.

During her time on Coronation Street, she won two British Soap Awards for Best Actress and the National Television Award for Most Popular Actress.

She left the show to pursue other acting interests including a hugely popular series Doctor Foster, for which she won numerous awards.

Now, it appears she wants to go back to where it all started and make an appearance. Even though The Sun is claiming that she is making a ‘shock return’, nothing is confirmed yet and even if she does appear on the show, it’s not a long-term plan.

She admitted that she would be up for playing the role of Karen McDonald again for Comic Relief.

According to The Sun, she said, “If it was for a good cause and we were going to raise a lot of money, I’d definitely consider it for Comic Relief.

So, we’ll just have to wait and see.
