Elon Musk and Grimes secretly welcome second child – and of course, it’s got an unusual name

The name pays homage to a Lord of The Rings character

Elon Musk and Grimes have revealed that they secretly welcomed a second child months after their very public breakup back in September. During Grimes’ Vanity Fair cover shoot, the singer was forced to reveal all after her daughter began crying from upstairs. Naturally, the reporter questioned the noises, to which Grimes, 33, replied: “She’s a little colicky too.” “I don’t know. I don’t know what I was thinking,” she told the magazine of trying to hide the baby. At first, Grimes only revealed that they refer to her as “Y”, which seems fitting given that they refer to her older brother as “X.” Just in case you needed reminding, his full name is X Æ A-Xii. Via text message, Grimes confirmed the full name: “is Exa Dark Sideræl Musk.” Exa is a reference to the supercomputing term, while dark is “the unknown. People fear it but truly it’s the absence of photons. Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe.” Sideræl, pronounced “sigh-deer-ee-el", is “a more elven” spelling of sidereal, described as “the true time of the universe, star time, deep space time, not our relative earth time.” She also told Vanity Fair that it's a gentle nod to her favourite Lord Of The Rings character, Galadriel.
