Ed Sheeran is going to star in The Simpsons and here’s how he’ll look

Paul Moore

He’ll be in everything at this rate.

The Simpsons have had some wonderful musical cameos over the years. Who can forget Aerosmith rocking out to an adoring St Louis Springfield crowd at Moe’s or Red Hot Chilli Peppers Chilli Willy gracing the same venue.

Then again, maybe you think that George Harrison and that endless pile of brownies at the Grammys is the finest musical moment in the history of The Simpsons? We agree.

Truth be told, you could make a case for loads of artists.

Well, not content with his guest appearance in Game of Thrones, Ed Sheeran will be starring in a new episode of The Simpsons.

In the musical-themed episode, titled “Haw-Haw Land,” Sheeran will be playing a character named Brendan that Lisa instantly becomes smitten with.

Here’s a look at how the Glastonbury headliner will appear in the show.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Al Jean says: “He keeps alternating [between], ‘You’re not that great, but you could be fantastic,’ and she keeps falling for him because of his talent”. There’s actually a love triangle forming as well with Nelson, who tries to impress Lisa with his singing talent. How is Nelson’s voice? “Well, you’ll hear.”

All in favour of Nelson beating the crap out of Ed Sheran’s character?  We’d give anything to see Nelson smack him over the head with a tambourine and say “that’s for besmirching an innocent girl’s name!”

It appears that Milhouse also has a role to play in this love triangle. “When Lisa meets Brendan, Milhouse comes in and he goes, ‘I’ve brought three kinds of waters — cold, warm, and lukewarm. Lisa goes, ‘I’m not thirsty anymore,’ and ‘Milhouse goes, ‘Dammit!’ That’s the effect he has on somebody else…. The girls love him but he’s difficult,” says Jean.

Mmm, Nelson, Milhouse and Sheeran are competing  Sheeran for the same girl. We see this happening!

Season 29 of The Simpsons starts on October 1st.
