EastEnders producers confirm key character is gone for good

We don’t know if this counts but just in case – spoiler alert!

We’ve seen many characters come and go over the years in Albert Square.

And just because they’re gone doesn’t mean they won’t ever come back.

However, the same cannot be said for this character, as EastEnders’ bosses have confirmed that viewers have seen the last of her.

Jane Beale unexpectedly left Walford during last night’s episode after Max Branning threatened to hurt Ian if she revealed his plans for revenge.

After leaving Stacey Fowler a voicemail explaining everything, Jane bid farewell to the square and producers say she won’t be back.

“I’ve loved every minute of playing Jane Beale,” actress Laurie Brett told Digital Spy.

“To return to ‘EastEnders with such a huge storyline was an absolute gift.

“However, what I have known from the start is that with the soap gods watching us all the time, there is only so long before things go full circle.

“It’s been hard keeping the secret, but the storyline has been great to play out and I have loved every minute of it.”
