Dr Dre: “My new record is bananas”

The hip-hop world has gone into overdrive with the announcement of a new record by Dr. Dre.

It would be enough to have new tracks from the rapper alone, but he's announced it will feature collaborations with Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg. The eagerly-anticipated LP - officially announced on his Beats 1 radio show 'The Pharmacy' - will be called 'Compton: A Soundtrack'. It will accompany the movie 'Straight Outta Compton' which tells the story of hip hop group N.W.A., starring Dre and Ice Cube, who also features on the collection. Dre said: "The record is bananas." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CL6n0FJZpk The album - released on Friday - will be the 50-year-old rapper's first since 1999's '2001' and comes several years after his much-lauded but never-released third LP 'Detox' was anticipated, which he has now revealed "just wasn't good enough" to be released. He confessed: "I don't think I did a good enough job, and I couldn't do that to my fans, and I couldn't do that to myself." News of the album was revealed last week by Ice Cube, who gushed about what fans can expect. He said: "It's mega. It's Dr. Dre, it's what everybody's been waiting for. It's definitely a dope record, and he's dropping it all on the same day."
