Deadpool fans want Quentin Tarantino to direct Deadpool 2

Can you imagine?

It was unapologetically violent, wickedly funny, brilliantly self-aware and absolutely loaded with dick jokes – so it’s no surprise that Deadpool was one of the biggest hits of the year.

It was made on a relatively modest budget for a super-(anti)hero movie, but went on to gross $780 million (£595 million) worldwide, and it wasn’t long before the inevitable sequel was confirmed.

Tim Miller, who helmed the first film, was back in the director’s chair for Deadpool 2, but left the project last week over reported ‘creative differences’ with star Ryan Reynolds.

With Miller out of the picture, there has been plenty of speculation about who could take his place, with the movie due to start shooting early next year.

There will surely be a queue of directors wanting a crack at Marvel’s foul-mouthed mercenary, but a growing number of fans have already decided who they want in charge: Quentin Tarantino.

At the time of writing, a petition to sign the Oscar-winner up for the sequel has over 6,400 signatures on Change.org.

Launched by Carl Champion Jr. from the US, it reads: “If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me!”

We’re almost certain that the potentially sensational Reynolds/Tarantino combination won’t come to fruition, but if you don’t ask, you don’t get, right?

Better sign that petition ASAP.
