Colin Farrell wore a prosthetic ‘penguin penis’ for a nude scene in The Penguin.

The Penguin, the much-anticipated series spin-off to the hugely popular 2022 blockbuster The Batman, landed on Sky and NOW this week.

Starring Oscar-nominee Colin Farrell, reprising his role as Oz Cobb aka The Penguin, the show follows the title criminal as he hustles to try to fill the power void left in Gotham’s underworld and ultimately become the city’s top gangster.

Standing in his way, however, is Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti, Palm Springs) – the daughter of Cobb’s much-respected late boss and someone who is more than meets the eye.

Co-starring Rhenzy Feliz (Runaways) as a poor teenager that The Penguin takes under his wing, the show is partly directed by Craig Zobel (The Hunt, Mare of Easttown).

It also features amongst its cast Carmen Ejogo (True Detective), Clancy Brown (Highlander), Deidre O’Connell (Outer Range), Mark Strong (Kingsman), Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Michael Zegen (Frances Ha) and Theo Rossi (Emily the Criminal).

Just like in The Batman, Farrell is unrecognisable in heavy prosthetics and a body suit – but that wasn’t all.

Apparently, makeup artist Mike Marino made a prosthetic “penguin penis” for the actor to wear during one nude scene in The Penguin, even though viewers wouldn’t see it.

Speaking to People, Farrell said: “Marino is so twisted and brilliant. He was like, ‘I made you a penguin penis.’ I said, ‘Really? They’re not even going to see it. I don’t know if I want to walk on set with a penguin penis.’

“And he was like ‘No, no, no, dude. It’s detachable, it’s Velcro. It’s got a beak at the end of it.’ So I had a penguin penis.”

When it came to the bodysuit, Farrell explained that the biggest part was around his shoulders and back, which was “kind of the anchor.”

He continued: “It came up to the chin. And then the bodysuit would go under it. They were nice enough to give me a hump as well.”
