James Corden has said that Chester Bennington’s family will decide what happens with an episode of Carpool Karaoke featuring the late singer.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Corden said that it would be entirely up to the family as to whether the episode would be broadcast.

“We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled,” the Late Late Show host said.

“We will navigate it as delicately as possible and just adhere to whatever wishes they would want because I don’t think there’s any other way we could deal with it. It’s a tragedy.”

Corden said that the conversation over what would happen with the episode was one that “we haven’t even thought about having right now” but that it would be “completely up to them”.

“We consider it to be not our decision to make,” the 38-year-old Brit said.

Bennington’s widow, Talinda Bennington, thanked Corden and the show via Twitter.

Chester Bennington died by suicide on 20 July aged 41. With Linkin Park, he sold over 70 million albums and helped make the band a household name and firm favourite with music fans around the world.
