Channel 4 are looking for participants for a new series of Married at First Sight

Oh good.

Kyle Picknell

Fancy marrying a stranger?

For those of you that haven’t watched Married at First Sight let me explain the very nuanced concept to you. Two people, who have never met, get married. That’s it. That’s all that happens. That’s the format. Which is currently running in 14 different countries.

If that sounds appealing to you, not just to watch but as a means to actually completely alter your life for no reason, then the good news is that Channel 4 are looking for contestants for an upcoming series of the show.

You too can appear on television and quake with fear on what is meant to be the happiest day of your life. You too can scream in horror as your see the person you are legally bound to for the first time. You too can get a divorce without all the pointless hassle of meeting someone and gradually building, then quickly ruining, a deep and meaningful relationship with them over the course of many years.

And that will happen, by the way. You will have to get divorced. Nearly all of the couples that have appeared on the version here in the UK have broken up within a couple of months. It will not end well.

If somehow you are still really sold on this, or just want to stitch up a friend, all you need to do is email marriedatfirstsight@cplproductions.co.uk detailing your name, age, sex, location, phone number and email address.

You can’t apply if you are under 18, not single (obviously), have children, or have been married before. It’s worrying that they have to include those additional disqualifications.
