Chadwick Boseman honoured by Disney+ in new Black Panther credits

A lovely tribute.

The world was shocked and devastated this August when Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman passed away at the age of only 43.

Unbeknownst to many, the actor had been severely ill with colon cancer for a long time.

Yesterday would have been Boseman’s 44th birthday and to honour the late actor, Disney+ changed the redesigned the Marvel logo to reflect this.

Walt Disney executive Bob Iger announced Tweeted the following:

“To all fans of #BlackPanther: watch the film on #DisneyPlus late tonight, for a special tribute to someone that was and will always be near and dear to our hearts.”

The new intro shows the classic Marvel page turning with images of the concept art for Black Panther and photographs of Boseman.

Fellow actors, including Boseman’s co-star Mark Ruffalo, also tweeted over the weekend to remember the star on what would have been his birthday.

“Thinking of your passion, love, and your light today,
@chadwickboseman. Happy Birthday. Wishing we could time travel back to this moment.”

Marvel have said that they do not intend to replace Boseman’s Black Panther character T’Challa with another actor. Instead, they will have one of the other existing Black Panther characters take a more prominent role in the franchise.
