Jamie Carragher doing David Brent all night is bloody brilliant

Friend first, pundit second. Probably an entertainer third.

Last week saw the return of unlikely double act Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville on Monday Night Football.

It was the Manchester United legend’s first appearance on the programme since his disastrous managerial spell at Valencia, so you can only really credit his bravery for opening up audience questions on Twitter.

Carragher, on the other hand, was absolutely revelling in watching his old enemy take a roasting on live telly. Inevitably the attention quickly turned to the 7-0 thrashing that Neville’s side took from Barcelona at the beginning of the year, and the doomed coach’s punditry partner was never going to let him off the hook.

In fact, Carragher was in such a good mood after the show that he decided to spend a good chunk of the night exchanging Twitter quotes with a David Brent parody account.

No, really.

It started with the ex-Liverpool man drawing the comparisons between his own MNF feet-on-the-desk demeanour and that of Slough’s favourite son.

Fake Brent approved.

But the Brentertainment didn’t end there – it kept coming, and others got involved, too.

It turns out that Jamie Carragher actually has previous for getting his Brent on, once referencing the Wernham Hogg king of cringe during a Soccer AM appearance.

And it seems to be a big hit with his followers.

We should probably mention that the man himself also took the time to acknowledge JOE’s take on the Monday Night Football duo linking up once again.

It’s good to have them back.
