The pop star still has no control over her own finances, however

Britney Spears’ father Jamie has lost out in his latest battle for sole control over her estate.

The 39-year-old pop star has been embroiled in a bitter legal battle for years, and recently lost in a bid to have her 68-year-old dad ousted from his conservatorship role.

That role gives him co-control over her affairs, but it appears that wasn’t enough. During the previous court case in November, Britney’s lawyer said she was scared of her father and didn’t want to resume her musical career until he was removed from his role.

Jamie Spears has long claimed that he has saved Britney from bankruptcy.

Sky News say that, in US law, a conservatorship is “normally a temporary measure for people with diminished ability who struggle to make decisions for themselves”.

In the latest ruling, Jamie Spears has been thwarted in his attempts to gain full control over her £43 million estate. A judge in LA instead gave private trust company Bessemer equal say in managing her finances.

While it may seem like positive news for Britney, she has still has no control over her finances. She has long tried to have her dad eliminated from her affairs, to no avail.

The New York Times’ Framing Britney Spears documentary was released in the USA on Hulu over the weekend, to widespread popularity.

It spurred a renewed interest in Britney’s life, her conservatorship under her father’s control, and the scrutiny she has suffered at the hands of the media.

It also touches on her struggles with mental health issues, and previous relationship with Justin Timberlake.

In a post shared to Instagram, Britney appeared to address the documentary, writing that “no matter what we think we know abut a person’s life, it is nothing compared to the actual person’s life”.

Sharing a video of a more recent performance of her iconic hit ‘Toxic’, the star wrote: “Can’t believe this performance of ‘Toxic’ is from 3 years ago!!! I’ll always love being on stage… but I am taking the time to learn and be a normal person.

“I love simply enjoying the basics of every day life!! Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories!!!! We all have so many different bright beautiful lives!!!

“Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person’s life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens.”
