Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul has moved from fictional drugs to real-life gambling

Nothing if not versatile

Rumours of a Jesse Pinkman Better Call Saul cameo appearance won’t go away, but in the meantime it looks like Aaron Paul may have his hands tied up in a professional Poker career.

The Breaking Bad star has joined the LA Sunset Global Poker League Team as the final wildcard pick.

A keen poker fan, Paul will become the first celebrity to be drafted into the league, and in a Tweet described himself as a #SecretWeapon.

In a GPL post, Paul said of the move: “I love Poker as a game and mind sport so I’m excited to be part of this new esports League. Representing the LA Sunset together with some of the best players in the world should be a blast.”

Team Manager Maria Ho was also delighted with the appointment, and reckons Paul will have a lot more to contribute to the team than his movie-star fame.

“We’ve had a lot of opportunities to include celebrities that happen to also be talented players, but in my experience Aaron is one of the most committed to the sport of poker right now,” she said. “He wants to learn and beat the best. He’s an amazing addition to the LA Sunset and I’m hoping he’ll end up being a pivotal part of our team being a winning hand.”

To see just how good of an addition he turns out to be, you can catch all of the matches on a live stream at www.globalpokerleague.com, which also lists the full schedule.
