Black Panther 2 filming paused after Wright injury

Production will be stopped for more than a month.

Filming for the Black Panther sequel has had to be put on hold after star Letitia Wright suffered an injury to her wrist.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on Black Panther: Wakanda will shut down from the week of November 22 and is expected to resume in early 2022.

The pause in production is not expected to delay the release of the movie, which is scheduled to come out in November next year.

Wright stars as Shuri in the Marvel movie, but injured her wrist in late August during a stunt and needs more time to heal.

Whilst the nature of the injury has not been revealed, it has been described as minor.

The first Black Panther film opened to huge commercial success and critical acclaim, grossing $1.3 billion and winning three Oscars. The fim has a rating of 96% on review site Rotten Tomatoes.

After the death of Chadwick Boseman in August 2020, Wright’s character was elevated to the lead role of the sequel.

Details of the plot for the sequel are yet to be revealed.

Filming had continued with other scenes and actors following Wright’s injury, but director Ryan Coogler had shot all footage that his crew was able to without Wright.
