Earlier this month, The Last of Us wrapped up its first season, becoming one of the most acclaimed shows of recent years.
The post-apocalyptic video game adaptation mostly takes place 20 years after a mass infection sparked a global pandemic, with victims of the disease transforming into zombie-like creatures.
It centres around Joel (Pedro Pascal - Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian), a smuggler who finds himself tasked with escorting Ellie (Bella Ramsey - Game of Thrones), a teenager who could be the key to a cure, across a dangerous and devastated United States.
Already renewed for a second season, the show was a massive hit and earned universal acclaim.
And with the final episode of The Last of Us's series expertly laying the track for a second season, fans have begun to wonder when the sophomore batch of episodes will arrive.
Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show at the weekend, Ramsey provided a timeline for people - and it looks like we'll be waiting a while for the next season.
Ramsey explained: “It will be a while. I think we’ll probably shoot end of this year, beginning of next and then it's like a year filming. So it’ll be probably end of 2024, early 2025.”
While this wait may be a struggle for fans, they can take solace in the fact that Ellie and Joel's friendship onscreen mirrors Ramsey and Pascal's.
Speaking about her bond with Pascal, Ramsey told Ross: "It's very real... I love him. I miss him actually. He's in Los Angeles living his best life. The Mandalorian has just come out so he's very busy."
