The Tim Burton sequel is arriving later this year

The first Beetlejuice 2 trailer has landed, giving fans their first glimpse at the long-anticipated sequel.

Officially titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the movie will see Michael Keaton reprise his role as the iconic title character.

You can watch the trailer below.

Along with Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara will also be returning in their roles from Tim Burton’s 1988 cult classic, as Lydia and Delia Deetz, respectively.

Meanwhile, Jenna Ortega will be joining the franchise as newcomer Astrid Deetz.

The A-list cast doesn’t stop there, with Monica Bellucci starring as Beetlejuice’s wife and Willem DeFoe taking on the role of a “police officer in the afterlife” and former “B movie action star,” whose acting skills help him as an afterlife detective. Justin Theroux also joins the sequel in a new role.

The 1988 horror comedy became a cult classic and followed a deceased couple trying to haunt the Deetz family out of their new home with the help of the eccentric ghost Beetlejuice.

Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis starred as the Maitlands while Jeffrey Jones, O’Hara and Ryder played the Deetz family.

Beetlejuice was a hit with audiences and critics alike, making $74.7m at the box office and receiving rave reviews.

Just like the original, the sequel has been directed by Tim Burton. The script for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who created the hit Netflix series Wednesday, which stars Ortega.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be released in cinemas on September 6 this year.
