BBC confirm second series of The Traitors

Could you be the next Wilf or Amanda?

BBC reality TV series The Traitors has been renewed for a second season and the broadcaster is now seeking out applicants for the upcoming batch of episodes.

Based on a Dutch series and hosted by Claudia Winkleman, The Traitors is filmed in the Scottish Highlands and follows 22 players that compete in a series of missions. The more missions they win, the bigger the prize pot.

However, among the players are the “traitors”, who meet in secret and decide who to eliminate from their fellow players – who are known as “faithfuls”. The aim of the traitors is to stay undetected until the end of the game.

“While trying to avoid being eliminated, the faithfuls must figure out who is a traitor and vote them out so they can take the prize money for themselves,” the plot synopsis reads.

“If a traitor makes it to the end, they are in with a chance of taking home the cash prize. Throughout the season, there will be twists, turns, and surprises for the players.”

Having racked up 34 million views on the BBC iPlayer, the show is the biggest brand-new entertainment launch for the BBC in two years.

During its run at the end of the last year it rapidly became one of the most talked about shows on TV, with millions gripped by the twists and backstabbing, whilst the likes of Wilf and Amanda became national treasures.

Those who think they have what it takes to play the game of “trust and treachery” can apply right here. Applicants must be aged 18 years or over.
