Great British Bake Off presenter Paul Hollywood will be presenting a new motoring show on the BBC.

As reported in The Sun, the chef and television presenter will front an as-yet-unnamed motoring show, that will see him visit locations around Europe, including France, Germany and Italy, as he explores motoring culture around the continent.

Following a the disappointing reaction to the latest series of Top Gear, it is believed that BBC bosses are hoping Hollywood can bring some of his Bake Off charm and charisma to the world of motoring shows.

A BBC source told The Sun: “Paul is a huge petrol-head as well as a big hit with viewers, so the chiefs are confident this will be a success.

It will be different to Top Gear, but there will be similarities too.

The idea is that it has the feel of a real adventure and will have guests on from the car and motorsport worlds as well as celebs.

So they hope it may appeal to fans unconvinced by the Top Gear remake, especially those who might watch Jeremy Clarkson on Amazon’s The Grand Tour later this year.”

The BBC insider revealed to the newspaper that Hollywood’s show will see the chef given the keys to a classic car, before a special guest shows around the motoring habits and history of each country he is in.

Filming on the new show is believed to start next month.

With the Jeremy Clarkson’s upcoming Amazon show The Grand Tour also seeing the presenter travel the world with different cars, viewers could be entering a new age of motoring programmes.
