It's certainly been a tough year for Ant McPartlin; the TV host recently announced he is divorcing his wife of 11 years, Lisa Armstrong.

And on Tuesday evening while accepting a trio of National Television Awards at the O2 in London, the 46-year-old struggled to hold back his emotions. https://twitter.com/OfficialNTAs/status/955901019044622337 Taking to the stage with his sidekick Declan Donnelly, Ant admitted he was "shaking" that it had been a "tough 12 months". He also made sure to thank his family and friends for helping him "get through". https://twitter.com/ThomasToyer/status/955912501409075201 The duo picked up accolades for their work on I'm A Celeb and on Saturday Night Takeaway, as well as a third for best TV presenter. Dec himself stated that the honours meant "more this year than any other year". https://twitter.com/antanddec/status/955920629286531073 Ant was up against his estranged wife, Lisa, in the Best Talent Show category; he for Britain's Got Talent and X Factor, and she for Strictly Come Dancing where she's head of makeup (in the end, Strictly proved victorious). https://twitter.com/ITV/status/955914929873326080 Earlier this month, his spokesman confirmed that he was ending his marriage.

It was added: "Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families."

The Sun On Sunday also quoted a source who reveals that "this was a tough decision for Ant but he has to do the right thing for his health. https://twitter.com/amystads/status/955927804008333312 "The marriage has effectively been struggling for eight months. He’s given it a good go."
