‘That feels like a bit of a misunderstanding!’
Ant and Dec gave their opinion on the clash between Fred Sirieix and Nella Rose during last night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity.
In Tuesday night’s episode, Nella revealed she had felt “disrespected” and “offended” after Fred told her he was old enough to be her dad.
Nella has previously discussed her father passing away in 2020 and her mother dying when she was just 19, and said that Fred was aware of her parents no longer being around.
As a result, she took offence to the comment he had made the night before whilst cooking, saying it had “left her upset”.
In scenes aired on Tuesday night, Nella explained: “Last night after dinner Fred made a comment about how he could be my dad.
“I took offence to that because one of the first conversations we had together was me opening up about the fact that my dad’s passed away. I didn’t say anything about it last night because I was kind of just annoyed about it.
“So I slept on it and I kind of thought about it and I was just like, this is not the kind of person I want to be around.”
The next morning, Fred asked Nella what he had done to upset her after she continuously ignored him.
She responded: “You know that my mum’s dead. And you know that my dad’s dead. You know that, right?”
After accusing the First Dates star of getting “an attitude” when she speaks to him, she continued: “Yesterday, when I wanted to burn fat that you were going to throw away you turned around to me, with an attitude and said, ‘You know I could be your dad, right?’.
“To me, I don’t care how you said it to me, it’s disrespectful and I don’t want to talk to you. I don’t want to be around you. I only allow people to disrespect me once. You hurt my feelings.”
After the scenes were aired, Ant and Dec gave their view on the bust-up, saying things had been “blown out of proportion.”
Dec said: “Blimey, that feels like a bit of a misunderstanding that has been blown out of proportion doesn’t it,” to which Ant then exclaimed: “By a tornado! That was big man.”
Dec continued: “Never easy when strong personalities have to live so closely together and the weather has been bad.”
Ant then suggested that perhaps the combination of “gloomy weather, gloomy people” had contributed to the falling out.
In camp, Fred quickly apologised for the offence he’d caused, saying that he didn’t mean to cause any upset and “only said that in a way because I am older than you, I am 51 and you’re 26.
“I made a mistake and I said something and I offended you, I’m really sorry. I’m really sorry you feel like this,” he added.
The YouTuber replied: “I’m not stupid, you’re not going to little girl me, you’re not.” Fred told her: “Nella, it wasn’t like that at all. Either I made a mistake and I said something and I offended you, I’m really sorry. I’m really sorry you feel like this.”
Nella continued: “I accept your apology, but in order for us to live in this camp together, I don’t want to eat no food that you’re cooking, don’t talk to me, you stay over there, I stay over here and we can live. I’m good. Yeah. You stay over there. Look at your face, you’re smiling. You don’t even give a f**k.”
