Alexandra Burke shares engagement news in heartbreaking Instagram post

Congrats are in order.

Alexandra Burke has finally confirmed that she is engaged to boyfriend, Joshua Ginnelly. The singer shared the good news on Instagram with an adorable picture of the pair kissing while Alexandra held out her hand with the words, “I said yes!” written on it. The Strictly star shared the exciting news and revealed that she had kept it to herself for quite some time.

“Smiling as I type this because it was the best day ever in Paris and so unexpected. My soulmate and my love asked me something that I could only have dreamt of. “Being in love is one of the most magical feelings life has to offer. So grateful for this amazing man in my life who has supported my family and I through so much. “We decided to keep this between us for a while to enjoy this special moment and that’s why we haven’t said anyting.”

Alexandra went on to share the one heartbreaking part of it all – the fact that she couldn’t tell her mum, Melissa Bell.

“Something so amazing honestly felt so overwhelming because there was only one person I wanted to call when it happened.”

Melissa tragically died in August from kidney failure, just weeks before Alexandra began her stint on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. However, the singer was truly touched to learn that her mum had been a part of it all.

“I know she is smiling and very happy for us both – because little did I know she knew about it.”
