East 17, 5ive, and Alesha Dixon to feature in bizarre pro-Brexit concert

Don't Stay Another Day

Well this is a funny one.

We had to double-check and triple-check this wasn’t a piss-take but it’s true – the likes of Alesha Dixon, Sister Sledge, East 17, Gwen Dickey Rose Royce and 5ive are all taking part in a Brexit pop concert.

Anti-EU organisation Leave.EU are “excited to be supporting” the part-political rally, part-’90s pop event at the Genting Arena, NEC in Birmingham on June 19th – just four days before the EU referendum.

As well as the music acts mentioned above, ‘BPop Live’ will feature a number of Leave.EU speakers, who will be attempting to turn hearts and minds against membership of the European Union.

The gig was originally planned for May 8th, but it was cancelled after headline act Sigma pulled out once the nature of the concert became apparent.

A spokesperson for Sigma confirmed that the act were “in no way supporting the event.”

It is unclear whether all the performers taking part are staunchly anti-EU, or whether they’re just in it for the money, but there’s no avoiding the nature of the event or the political standpoint it represents.

If you like your pop served with proud nationalism, tickets are £23 plus a booking fee.
