TMZ have reported that the actor Alan O’Neill, who played Hugh in Sons of Anarchy, has passed away at the age of 47.
They state that O'Neill's body was discovered by his girlfriend in the hallway of her apartment on Wednesday night. No foul play is suspected and an autopsy is due to be completed.
In Kurt Sutter's beloved drama about the outlaw motorcycle gang, O'Neill's character was a former member of the True IRA and he made his debut during the sixth season.
Hugh was a recurring character right up until the series’ final episode, Papa’s Goods, in the seventh and final season.
Aside from this, Irish audiences might also remember his performance as Keith McGrath in Fair City from 2006-2012.
His other roles included a part in the critically-acclaimed Irish film 32A, Rebel Heart and Shadow Dancer among others.
