In a tweet issued today, it read:

"Ahead of our normal #bpiAwards announcements, we've some news hot off the press! After scooping 'British Male Solo Artist' & 'Mastercard British Album of the Year' at last night's @BRITs, @Stormzy1's 'Gang Signs & Prayer' is now a Platinum selling album in the UK!"

Already having a pretty good day himself with masses of support and praise flooding in for last night's performance and scathing words aimed in the direction of Prime Minister Theresa May, Stormzy couldn't believe his album had gone platinum, selling over 300,000 copies in the UK alone.

BPI represents the UK’s recorded music industry, which is one of the most exciting and thriving music sectors in the world. British artists account for one in eight albums purchased by fans around the globe.
