A bet’s a bet

Paddy Pimblett a.k.a. Paddy the Baddy invited a fan down to watch him train and settle a £100 bet, which he paid in 10p and 20p coins after losing out.

Tom Kavanagh, a lifelong Manchester City fan, had a bet with Pimblett – a Liverpool supporter – that City would finish above Liverpool last season.

City would go on to win the league, but Kavanagh explained that he had to convince the UFC star that he wasn’t a scammer and that Pimblett needed to pay up.

Kavanagh told JOE: “I had a bet with him early last year before he had his debut in UFC. I had a bet that City would finish above Liverpool last season for £100 and on Sunday night I messaged him saying he owes me money.

“At first he didn’t believe me and thought I was a scammer and was calling me a crab and a bum. I managed to find a screenshot I put in my group chat a year ago and finally was able to prove it was him.”

True to his word, the larger than life character invited Kavanagh down to the gym where he was given more than one surprise on his visit.

“He invited me down to watch him and his team spar and for him to pay his bet,” he explained.

“We got there and was greeted by Molly McCann who asked us who we was. We told her why we was there and after that was made to feel more than welcome.

“Paddy finished his sparring and came and paid his debts, but little did I know he was paying me in 10 and 20p’s.”

Kavanagh and his friends then spent the rest of the afternoon chatting to the UFC star, who has shot to fame in the last 12 months thanks to his unique personality, mental health advocacy, and of course his fighting ability.
