Mark Wahlberg donates 1.3 million face masks to deprived schools

They will go to some of the most at-risk school districts in the United States

Mark Wahlberg has donated over 1.3 million face masks to deprived and disadvantaged school districts across America. The Hollywood star made the gesture as a form of thanks to teachers and school staff for their hard work amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Wahlberg's sports nutrition brand Performance Inspired teamed up with lifestyle brand LifeToGo to donate the disposable face masks to low-income schools. Currently, two per cent of Performance Inspired's profits go to charitable causes. He said: "As you know, this has been a year of change and stress for everybody.

"But today, I want to thank our essential workers. You guys have kept us healthy, safe and supplied us with all the necessities."

As it stands, more than 1.3 million face masks have been distributed to school districts in Chicago, Minneapolis, Portland and San Antonio, Texas. However, the efforts of educational staff have arguably been overlooked in the months since the first lockdown. Both here and in America.

It is this which prompted Mark Wahlberg to pay special thanks to teachers and their families.

"Everyday brings a new challenge, but we continue to pray for you and your families," Wahlberg said.

"And please know your efforts are much appreciated."
