From the moment Walt Disney reached deep within his mind in 1928 to create an anthropomorphic mouse named Michael, Disney has not looked back. Now 100s of movies deep, Disney's animated offerings follow a familiar but mostly satisfying pattern: a hero of some kind finds themselves in danger, only to eventually defeat the antagonist and win the day. Almost all of these protagonists are accompanied along the way by a strange creature of some kind. Sometimes it is a monster of sorts, other times it is an animal - and they are for the most part very strange creatures.
