There will be a delay at St Mary’s due to a medical emergency in the stands

The second-half of Southampton’s game at home to Leicester City has just resumed following a delay due to a medical emergency in the stands.

Southampton were leading 2-1 at the St Mary’s Stadium however the game was overshadowed at half-time after medics were alerted to an emergency in the stands, which Amazon Prime confirmed was not a cardiac arrest.

The start to the second half was delayed by 10 minutes as medics worked to help the supporter out the stadium.

It comes after Watford’s game against Chelsea at Vicarage Road was also stopped due to a medical emergency in the stands after Marcos Alonso was alerted by fans, before both sets of players were taken off the pitch.

The fan was taken to hospital and is believed to be in a stable condition with players now returning to the pitch at Vicarage Road where the score is currently 1-0 to Chelsea, courtesy of Mason Mount’s goal.
