He complained of feeling unwell and was taken off at half-time
Jack Clarke was taken to hospital after being treated by paramedics during Leeds United’s draw with Middlesbrough this afternoon. He will remain at hospital overnight.
The Leeds winger complained that he felt unwell during the game and was replaced at half-time, before collapsing during the second half while on the substitutes’ bench.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa confirmed Clarke was feeling “better” in the dressing room but would be checked in hospital.
Bielsa told BBC Radio Leeds: “What we know is that he didn’t feel well. We don’t really know the reasons yet.
“When he was taken to the dressing room, he was better. He was taken to the hospital to see if everything is all right.”
In a statement on their website, Leeds said: “The player is responsive and attending hospital with the club’s head of medicine and performance.
“On behalf of everyone at Leeds United, we would like to thank the medical staff from both clubs for their response to the incident.”

The incident caused a 12 minute delay to the game.
Boro had opened the scoring in the 47th minute, but Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips rose to the occasion, scoring a late, late equaliser deep into added time to secure a point for the visitors.
That win puts Leeds top of the Championship by just a point, but Norwich can overtake them by avoiding defeat in the ‘Old Farm derby’ tomorrow afternoon against Ipswich.
