From Non-League to Premier League: Callum Wilson interview

JOE

“I always felt like I would play for England.”

Callum Wilson didn’t take the usual root to the top. Starting his career at Coventry, he endured two difficult spells in Non-League, scoring two goals in 20 matches. During his formative years, you’d have been forgiven for thinking that he wasn’t destined for international football or even the Premier League.

But through hard graft, both physically and mentally, under the guidance of Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, Wilson has risen through the ranks and is now a regular feature of England squads.

At the launch of Need for Speed: Heat, Wilson spoke to JOE’s Reuben Pinder to discuss his unconventional footballing journey, the self belief required to bounce back from two different ACL injuries and how he always felt he would play for England.
