Kasabian front man Tom Meighan has stepped down from the band due to “personal issues”, the band has announced.
A founding member of the group since its creation in 1997, Meighan will “concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track”.
“Tom Meighan is stepping down from Kasabian by mutual consent. Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behaviour for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track. We will not be commenting further,” read the statement in full.

The band have released six studio albums, Kasabian (2004), Empire (2006), West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009), Velociraptor! (2011), 48:13 (2014), and For Crying Out Loud (2017).
They rose to prominence with the third single released from their debut album, ‘Club Foot’. The song, which was written during the early years of the band, remains one of their most popular.
Meighan’s departure from the group means that bass player Chris Edwards and guitarist and vocalist Sergio Pizzorno are the only remaining founding members of the group.
Another founding member of the band, Christopher Karloff, left the band in 2006.
