The Battlefield franchise is taking us to the trenches.

Early this weekend Electronic Arts treated us to the first trailer for Battlefield 1, the latest installment in the popular first person shooter franchise. Why is the 12th(ish) edition of a game series getting the suffix of 'one'? Well that's because EA DICE's new game is set during the First World War. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-yhXFxql6o The First World War has very rarely got the videogame treatment in the past, but Battlefield 1's trailer certainly looks like they've nailed claustrophobic fighting The Great War is known for. That's not to say there's only trench warfare on offer in Battlefield 1 - several different locations were shown in the trailer, including calvary assaults in Arabian deserts, urban warfare in a French town, gun battles in the Italian Alps, forests areas, jungles and more. In typical Battlefield style, a number of vehicles are also on display, including biplanes, battleships, and several varieties of tanks. Although for us, the standout in that trailer (besides the nifty remix of 'Seven Nation Army' on the soundtrack) is the hefty shovel melee attack. OOFT. EA have gone on record to say Battlefield 1 will offer a proper fleshed out single-player mode, and gamers can enjoy multiplayer levels that can handle up to 64 players. The trailer certainly got gamers hyped on social media https://twitter.com/locust9/status/728680686081708032 https://twitter.com/CMPuLs3/status/728680456250601474 https://twitter.com/namr3h_plays/status/728685463335260160 Many compared it to the recent Call of Duty: Infinite War trailer. https://twitter.com/WhosChaos/status/728685311195287553 https://twitter.com/GriffPlays/status/728679904217272320 https://twitter.com/TheBulge3/status/728685549179932672 It's all looking very promising. Battlefield 1 will be launched on October 21 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Those looking to play Battlefield 1 early can pre-order the Early Enlister Edition to gain access to the first person shooter from October 18. EA Access users can also play the game 10 hours early on Xbox One and PC. What do you think of the Battlefield 1 trailer? Will you be picking it up, or are you more of a COD gamer?
