While the Argentine has generated plenty of headlines for his selfless spot kick, many of us were unaware that one of his Barca teammates attempted something similar a few years ago... 'attempted' being the operative word.
Back in 2012, several Barcelona stars took place in a special indoor football match, with sides managed by Pep Guardiola and his successor, the late Tito Vilanova.
After winning a penalty, Gerard Pique decided to step up himself. Instead of shooting, he also opts to pass the ball to a team mate. Seemingly catching Pique by surprise, the ball is passed back to him and he fails to react in time to tap the ball into the goal.
