The paper claims the original plan was to have current manager Louis van Gaal depart at the end of the season and for Mourinho to step in over the summer, but that might be about to change.

United's recent defeat at the hands of struggling Sunderland means Van Gaal's position has become untenable to some at Old Trafford and they might just push through a move for Mourinho in the coming weeks.
