Valencia's youngsters were wrongly dumped out of the UEFA Youth League, when the referee failed to spot that Alberto Gil’s spot kick had crossed the line in their penalty shoot out with Chelsea.
Having clearly crossed the line, the ball rebounded away from goal off part of the goal frame.
Presumably thinking it had struck the post, the referee, after consulting with his assistant, ruled that the penalty would not count.
Although Valencia didn't miss any of their penalties, Chelsea went on to convert all of their remaining spot kicks, securing a berth in the last eight of the competition.
