When you talk about sportsmen relieving themselves on the biggest stage, one name springs to mind more than most.

Gary Lineker has never been allowed to forget his episode during the 1990 World Cup, when he was caught short in the middle of the group game against Ireland and was unable to leave the field of play before doing his business. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXya0KHrxjY It gets brought up whenever the Match of the Day presenter tweets about...well, anything, really.

Providing goal updates from the Champions League

Or even sharing a photo of the boxer shorts he wore to present Match of the Day.

Diniz could be seen relieving himself mid-race, prompting a fair few people to turn to the man they regard as an expert on sporting bowel movements. https://twitter.com/YoyoLondon84/status/766630683838119936

If anyone was able to sympathise with Diniz, it would surely be Lineker himself. And sure enough, so it proved.

If you thought you were having a shitter of a day, remember there's always someone worse off.
