The Ring magazine received a lot of backlash when after announcing it would be running an issue with UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey on the cover in January.
The boxing publication came under fire for their decision to feature an athlete from a completely different sport with some accusing the magazine of using Rousey's celebrity status to sell copies.
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr is the latest high profile athlete to speak out against the magazine cover. Although he congratulated Rousey on becoming the first MMA fighter to make the cover, he told FightHype.com he felt it reflected poorly on boxing."Well, you know, congratulations, but you know the sport is starting to look bad when a female fighter from a whole other sport is on the cover of a boxing book."
As if in a bid to make everyone forget that he thinks magazines are books, Mayweather then tore into Oscar De La Hoya, the owner of the publication.
"You gotta realize this, we all know Oscar De La Hoya owns the Ring Magazine. That shows you; he has no fighters but Canelo. Basically, it's like he's trying to steal her from Dana White."Real talk.
