David de Gea was forced to watch on from the stands after being dropped by Louis van Gaal, as Man United kicked off the new season against Tottenham.

The Spanish keeper, who is expected to join Real Madrid before the transfer window closes, looked distinctly out of place alongside the unwanted Victor Valdes and forgotten man Anders Lindegaard. Valdes, who has been told he's free to leave United, shunned the club tie and blazer, probably wishing he was anywhere but Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon... during the Barclays Premier League match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on August 8, 2015 in Manchester, England.
