Benitez forced to ‘tidy up Mourinho’s mess’…says his wife

Rafael Benitez can't seem to escape from Jose Mourinho's shadow - and even the Spaniard's wife agrees.

Speaking to La Region in Spain, Benitez's wife, Montserrat Seara, blamed Mourinho for her husband's recent struggles. Including his new role at Real Madrid, Benitez has now taken on a job recently held by Mourinho on three separate occasions - a fact not lost on his wife. "We tidy up his messes," said Seara. "If you think about it, of course you end up crossing paths. There are only a few world-class clubs out there." In 2010 Benitez was a direct replacement for Mourinho at Inter Milan. But unfortunately for the Spaniard, he was sacked after just six months after failing to recreate the success Mourinho enjoyed when the Italians won the Champions League. Benitez's next move was to take over at Chelsea following Roberto di Matteo's sacking - five years after the Special One left Stamford Bridge. Although his side were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stages, they did win the Europa League. Strangely though, Benitez was then replaced himself by Mourinho.
