Court documents stated that Dassey, who was 17 years old when convicted, should be "released from custody unless, within 90 days of the date of this decision, the State initiates proceedings to retry him". Now, clearly the death of Halbach and the fact that it looks as if Dassey spent nine years in prison for something he did not do is no laughing matter.
