How many have you seen?

Not to lean too heavily on Jon Snow’s most iconic line but winter is coming and with that, you’re going to need some TV shows to binge watch during those cold nights ahead.

With this in mind, here are the ten highest rated new TV shows that in 2016, according to the always reliable Metacritic.

10) Outcast

Rating: 70/100

Plot’s it about?: A young man searches for answers as to why he’s been suffering from supernatural possessions his entire life.

9) Thirteen

Rating: 73/100

Plot’s it about?: 26-year-old Ivy Moxam steps out of an ordinary house, on an ordinary street, on an ordinary day. Ivy hasn’t been seen for thirteen years, she was kidnapped in 2003 at the age of thirteen.

8) Stranger Things

Rating: 76/100

Plot’s it about?: When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief, and his friends must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back. The Duffer Brothers have created an absolute smash-hit show that has rivalled even Westeros for internet buzz.

(Note: Preacher and The A Word are also tied for eighth place with a 76 rating)

7) Last Chance U

Rating: 79/100

Plot’s it about?:  The show follows follows a group of young men that are training to become the future stars of the NFL. Based at East Mississippi Community College (EMCC), “Last Chance U” takes us on a journey to understand the real men of the gridiron at one of the most successful, but least known athletic programs.

Can their talent on the field detract from their own unique struggles off it?

6) The Night Manager

Rating: 82/100

Plot’s it about?: The night manager of a Cairo hotel is recruited to infiltrate an arms dealer’s inner circle.

5) Roots

Rating: 83/100

Plot’s it about?: An adaptation of Alex Haley’s “Roots”, chronicling the history of an African slave sold to America and his descendants.

4) The Dresser

Rating: 84/100

Plot’s it about?: A drama, based on a successful play, about an ageing actor and his personal assistant. Ian McKellen, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson star.

3) Take My Wife

Rating: 84/100

Plot’s it about?: Follows real life couple Cameron Epsosito and Rhea Butcher as they share their lives as stand up comics who are balancing work, relationships, and the breaking down of gender barriers.

2) The Night Of

Rating: 90/100

Plot’s it about?: After a night of partying with a female stranger, a man wakes up to find her stabbed to death and is charged with her murder.

People have been absolutely raving about this show for quite some time now and it’s airing on Sky Atlantic shortly.

1) O.J.: Made in America

Rating: 96/100

Plot’s it about?: The five-part documentary chronicles O.J. Simpson’s rise from the San Francisco housing projects to football fame in college and the NFL to his post-football career and infamy with the 1995 trial for the killings of his ex-wife, Nicole, and Ron Goldman.

If these brand new shows don’t take your fancy then you’ll be happy to know that Narcos is returning on September 2nd.
